Before its extinction, where did the dodo bird live?
The dodo is an extinct species of flightless bird that was native to the tiny island nation of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean. Dodos were large birds, approximately three-feet tall. The last known, credible sighting of the bird was in 1662, just 64 years after it was discovered on its home island of Mauritius. Dodos have become an icon of extinction which is likely due to human behavior. Though dodos disappeared from their home many centuries ago, they appear in stories all around the world as a symbol for extinction and caricature of obsolescence.
