On what day of the week was the attack on Pearl Harbor?
Sunday
On Sunday December 7, 1941, Japanese warplanes attacked the home base of the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor. Why Japan chose a Sunday morning was not an accident. Japanese intelligence knew that many of military personnel would be attending off-base religious services, leaving the ships in the harbor understaffed in the event of an emergency. By deciding to attack on a Sunday morning, Japan had knowingly chosen a day where the United States would not be at full strength and would be ill-prepared for the surprise attack.
