The final episode of the original “Star Trek” was preempted by news of whose death?
On March 28, 1969, the final episode of Star Trek's third season was scheduled to air. But when it came time to air the episode "Turnabout Intruder," the Enterprise hit an obstacle it could not overcome. NBC pre-empted the show with a special report on the death of former president Dwight D. Eisenhower. Over two months later, "Turnabout Intruder," confusingly appeared at a new night and time. It would be the last episode of Star Trek's original series. Despite the writing of thousands of fan letters begging for a fourth season, the show had been canceled.
