The silkscreen painting "Marilyn Diptych" was created in 1962 by which artist?
The Marilyn Diptych is a silkscreen painting by pop artist Andy Warhol depicting Marilyn Monroe. Warhol began his monumental Marilyn Diptych in the months immediately following the actress's untimely death in 1962. The painting is made of two silver canvases on which Warhol silkscreened a photograph of Marilyn Monroe fifty times. Twenty-five images on the left are painted in color, and twenty-five images on the right side are black and white. It has been suggested that each side of the canvas is evocative of the relation between the celebrity's life and death. The piece is one of Warhol's most noted works.
