What city lies at the mouth of the Yangtze River?
Yangtze River is the third-longest river in the world. The river is China’s most important waterway, and nearly one-third of the country’s population lives in its basin. The Western name Yangtze technically refers to the small stretch near the mouth, which lies just north of China’s largest city of Shanghai. This area is a major economic center and includes the Port of Shanghai, the world’s busiest container port.
