What iconic Washington, D.C., building contains a basketball court?
U.S. Supreme Court
The Supreme Court, of course, houses the “Highest Court in the Land,” which is actually located on the fourth floor of the building. One floor above that, you’ll find a basketball court. Originally used for storage, the floor became a workout facility for courtroom employees in the 1940s. Now, the fifth-floor facilities include a gym, a weight training room, and the basketball court. However, signs remind prospective players that games are not allowed while the Supreme Court is in session. Several Supreme Court justices were known to take advantage of the court over the years, including Byron White and Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist.
