What is the smallest breed of dog?
Chihuahua
Ay, chihuahua! The chihuahua is the tiniest dog breed in the world. On average, they weigh two to six pounds. Chihuahuas also have a long lifespan, and many have survived up to 16 years. While their origins are a bit of a mystery, chihuahuas are one of the oldest breeds in the Americas. It’s thought that late 19th century Americans first encountered the dogs in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, which is where the name came from. They are considered to be one of the most popular breeds in the world. Meanwhile, according to Guinness World Records, the smallest individual dog on record was likely a Yorkshire terrier that was less than three inches tall and four inches long.
