Which classic duo first performed under the name “Tom & Jerry”?
SIMON & GARFUNKEL
Simon & Garfunkel was a folk rock duo consisting of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. The duo met as children in Queens, New York in 1953, where they began writing original material. By 1957, under the name Tom & Jerry, the teenagers had their first minor success with the song "Hey Schoolgirl." In 1963, aware of a growing public interest in folk music, they regrouped and were signed to Columbia Records as Simon & Garfunkel. They would go on to become one of the most popular recording artists of the 1960s. Their biggest hits included "The Sound of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson", "Bridge over Troubled Water", and "The Boxer."
