Which of these vocal ranges is the lowest?
Most vocal ranges are categorized within 6 common voice types: Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Mezzo-Soprano, and Soprano. If you've been part of a choir before, you're probably pretty familiar with these ranges. The bass has the lowest vocal range of all voice types. The bass singing voice has a vocal range that lies around the second E below middle C to the E above middle C (i.e., E2–E4). However, some extreme bass singers, referred to as basso profondos and oktavists, are able to reach much lower than this.
