Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison was one of the most famous and prolific inventors of all time. In an interview published in the September 1932 edition of Harper's Monthly Magazine, Edison described the secret to his success as an inventor. "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." It means that genius is largely the result of hard work, rather than an inspired flash of insight. Edison was of the view that geniuses are made, not born. Edison tested 3000 theories for the electric light before he came up with one that worked. It was this epic perseverance that led him to observe, "genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."
