Who killed Macbeth in William Shakespeare's play?
Macduff
William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, tells the story of Macbeth's rise as king and his eventual murder by his rival Macduff. In the play, a Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne. His ultimate demise was also part of the prophecy foretold by the witches, but Macbeth misunderstood the prophecy and didn't recognize Macduff as his destined killer. Macduff kills Macbeth to avenge his slain family, whom Macbeth had killed.
