Tires with no tread pattern at all
Slicks have no tread pattern, thus creating a larger contact area for any specific size of tire, increasing their grip. They also are generally made of softer compounds, which also increases their road-holding ability. As you've probably guessed, slicks are generally used in automotive racing for these benefits.
